Reverend Jennie Leake Hemrick, or Pastor Jennie as most call her, lives in Danbury, NC with her four-legged children, Mittens the cat and Lizzie the black and white Shih Tzu. A 1992 graduate of Winston Salem State University, with a BA in political Science and Public Administration, she has worked in several capacities, prior to the ministry. She has been a licensed hairdresser in NC since 1972. She was Deputy Clerk of Superior Court in Stokes County for 6 years; worked as Victims Advocate for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence victims with Family Services of Forsyth County; and with the Forsyth County District Attorney as Director of The Family Court Unit. Jennie has served on the Governor's Crime Commission, the NC Council on the Status of Women, and chaired the legislative committee that authored the marital rape law of NC.

Answering God's call to ordained ministry, she entered Wake Forest University School of Divinity in August, 1999 as a member of the Inaugural Class, graduating with her Master of Divinity in 2002. Having explored ordination in the United Methodist Church, Jennie sought ordination and was ordained in the Presbyterian Church, (USA) on November 16, 2003.

She has served as Intentional Interim or Transitional pastor of Pine Ridge PC in Pilot Mountain, Hills PC in Pilot Mountain, Unity PC in Woodleaf, Bethany PC in Graham, Grace Moravian Church in Mount Airy, and now is Stated Supply Pastor for First Presbyterian Church in Thomasville.

Pastor Jennie is currently Moderator of the Executive Council for Salem Presbytery, serves as Spiritual Director for NC Presbyterian Pilgrimage, is a licensed foster parent, and a member of the Board of Elections for Stokes County.

In her spare time Pastor Jennie loves spending time with her daughter Clara-Marie and son-in-law Brian, and especially loves spoiling her granddaughter Scarlett as she awaits the arrival of a new grand in the Fall. She is an avid reader, loves to sing, crochet, make jewelry, and spend time watching God in all of Creation.
